Dear Students and Parents,
As we begin School Year 2016-2017, we share our K-12 vision for a district united by its mascot, colors, vision, and community spirit. We mark this new school year by all schools using the tiger mascot and all schools using the district colors of orange and black (with white and grey as accent colors). While we know each school has its own culture and unique tradition, and we do not want to lose that, we also know that our students need to be part of a K-12 process that begins with students entering the district in kindergarten or first grade and staying with us through high school graduation.
There are visible signs of our branding work throughout the district. You’ll notice the large MN painted on our concession stand at the stadium. MN-branded balloons will welcome students back to school and students in elementary school and middle school will receive a Tiger Country wristband on the first day of school.
Bringing the schools and community together through branding should enhance our school spirit across all grade levels and engage all learners. With spirit and enthusiasm, our schools should be even more welcoming, more exciting, and more focused on academic achievement.
Throughout last year, I shared my vision; a vision that is future-focused. In the weeks ahead, you will see the vision boldly displayed in posters in every classroom throughout the district. Administrators, teachers, and staff will be working to make the vision a reality and the vision should be the driver behind everything we do on a daily, weekly, and annual basis.
If we truly work to the vision, it is expected that all students will succeed, all parents will have a positive experience, and all members of the Marple Newtown School District Community will benefit from the success of our students. Surely, a vision is just that. It is the story of the future, it is visionary. It pushes us to strive for the almost impossible so to stretch us to new levels.
The district is poised for great outcomes. Together, let’s make School Year 2016-2017 a roaring success.
