  3. Harcourt School SiteJan Brett: The Hat In this short video, author Jan Brett explains how she came up with the idea for The Hat.

Reading and Math Sites:

  1. ABCya Introduces basic computer skills with math and reading practice.

  3. Enchanted Learning Information, quizzes, and coloring pages about several topics including dinosaurs, oceans and butterflies.

  6. Gamequarium Offers several learning games grouped by category (for example, brain teasers, strategy games, etc.)
  7. Internet4Classrooms Math and Language Arts Includes math practice with time, money, even/odd numbers, measurement, diagrams, graphing. Language arts skills include consonants/vowels, syllables, ABC order (helpful in the library!), compound words and more.

Reading Only Sites:

  1. Between the Lions Based on the PBS show. Click on the picture of the lion for this week's games. One game, "Gawain's Word" features two knights jousting. One knight carries a flag with a consonant such as "h", the other with a blend such as "ug." When they meet there is a lovely crashing sound and then you hear the word they form, "hug"! This can then be repeated with other consonants.

  2. Brain teasers This site has games that review lower case letter and pattern recognition, letter sounds, and object identification.

  3. Connect the Dots Click on letters in alphabetic order to see Winnie the Pooh characters

  4. Earobics Play GameGoo (at school, click on "higher speed connection"). Games provide practice in language arts skills, including recognizing upper and lower case letters, alphabetical order, spelling three letter words, distinguishing fiction from nonfiction, and identifying opposites.

  5. Mighty Book Hear stories, songs and jokes. Play games and puzzles.

  3. OUPD Kid Safety This animated slide show teaches fire safety and other safety subjects. For a complete listing of all eighteen safety tutorials, click on "Stop" then "Menu."

  4. Sparky the Fire Dog Sparky the Fire Dog is the official Dalmatian "spokes dog" of the NFPA. Try driving a fire truck!
