Congratulations Chris White, Assistant Principal of the Year!  Marple Newtown's own Chris White, Assistant Principal of Marple Newtown High School, has been selected as PAESSP’s 2009 Robert E. Lavely Assistant Principal of the Year in conjunction with the National Assistant Principal of the Year program, sponsored by NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals). She was chosen for this honor from a field of nominated assistant principals from across the Commonwealth.

Football Team wins Sportsmanship Award!  Congratulations go out to Ray Gionta, his staff and his players for being selected to receive the sportsmanship award for the Central League this past season.  I believe this is the 4th time they have won this honor since Ray has been our coach.

From my perspective, this would have to be their finest achievement in regards to sportsmanship.  To start the season 0-5 with key injuries and allow a number of talented sophomores to get their feet wet at the varsity level, then finish 6-6 speaks volumes about the job done by our entire staff.  At no point were kids allowed to give up or make excuses for their play.  Yet they persevered and enjoyed success at the end of the season.  This is a direct result in the coaches readjusting the way they handled their team this year.  They did what good coaches do:  adapt their teaching techniques and strategies to meet the needs of the current team.

Pride & Prejudice comes to Marple Newtown!  One of the most revered romantic comedies in all of literature will be gracing the Marple Newtown stage this upcoming December.  A mere two centuries later, Jane Austen’s 1813 Pride and Prejudice still grips at the hearts of hopeless romantics everywhere.  Marple Newtown’s rendition is sure to create a fantastic world of English society, with grand formal balls, handsome lords and ladies, and true love.  This production will be performed Friday, December 5th, Saturday, December 6th, and the following weekend, on Friday, December 12th, and Saturday, December 13th.   The curtain goes up at 7:00 p.m. each night.

MN Cheerleaders sponsor Ladies Night of Shopping! Join us Wednesday evening, December 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the cafeteria where dozens of vendors will have a wide variety of goods for everyone on your holiday shopping list!  Items include hand-made crafts, baked goods, jewelry, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Avon, scarves, wood crafts -- something for everyone!
