Crisis Planning
Information
Our faculty and staff work diligently to keep your child safe during
the school day. We are very aware that you entrust your child to
us, and we take that trust seriously.
In the event of an unforeseen emergency at a school, each school
has in place crisis management procedures outlined in a Crisis Response
Reference Guide. The Crisis Response Reference Guide was developed
with the cooperation of local, state and federal agencies.Our faculty
and staff have reviewed these procedures and have been trained in
their implementation. These guidelines were developed in an effort
to protect the safety and wellbeing of the students, staff, visitors,
and the members of the community. The guidelines suggest step-by-step
items to follow and are only guidelines to serve in managing a crisis.
Real life decisions for reacting to an emergency must be guided
ultimately by the sound judgment and discretion of involved staff.
The Guide includes general crisis procedures for securing the
building, classroom evacuation, building evacuation, campus evacuation,
and sheltering. It also outlines how all individuals in the school
community (administrators, teachers, parents, students, bus drivers,
and support staff) can be prepared to react to various types of
crises and to spot the behavioral and emotional signs that indicate
a child is troubled.
In addition to the Guide, each school and the District Office
have Crisis Response Teams that are mobilized in the event of an
emergency to assist in providing information to the students, staff,
families and community. Fire and lockdown drills are practiced regularly
at each site to ensure that routines and safety procedures are well
established and familiar to all. Parents/guardians can expect effective
and efficient information communicated in a timely manner regarding
school-related situations that may occur on campus.
In the event of a school or District emergency, parents may be
notified in one or more of the following ways:
- Direct telephone call from the District, or activation of building
phone chains;
- Messages posted on the District's website;
- Messages on the District's Informa-Phone, 610.359.4280
- Special parent advisory letters sent home from school
