Introduction

The transportation department has a fleet of 80 buses and vans and a work force of 98 drivers and aides, who transport 5,828 students to public and private schools.

The transportation department establishes routes according to state law guidelines which provide the safest school bus stop locations. Drivers are not permitted to change bus stop locations without the supervisor’s approval. Requests for bus stop changes must be addressed in a letter to the transportation department for consideration. All requests will be responded to in a timely manner. Driver’s who stop at illegal bus stops are in violation of Pa Motor Vehicle Code.

Bus Routes & Schedules

Bus Passes are distributed each year before the start of school. We are confident that all necessary steps have been taken to provide the best possible means of transportation for your children. The decisions have been based on the safety and security of each child. In some instances, you may find that your child’s bus stop has changed, or that the bus schedule has been revised from last year. Schedules and bus stops may change from year to year in order to accommodate growth in the community.

During the first week of school, we ask that you have your child(ren) at the assigned bus stop at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time. After the first week you should have your child(ren) at the bus stop at least five (5) minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time. Children late for their scheduled pick up time during the school year will not receive transportation.

During the first few weeks of school adjustments will be made to the schedules. Your child (ren) may be instructed by the driver to be at the bus stop earlier than scheduled in order to deliver students to school on time. Check with your child (ren) daily to see if any such changes were made to their schedule.
