Michael Larkin, Director of Communications & Development
Mr. Larkin was hired by The Marple Newtown School District in 2011. He began his career as the District Communications Coordinator. After 4 years, he was promoted to the Director of Communications & Development. Mr. Larkin is a graduate of Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in Communications. Prior to joining the school district, Mr. Larkin founded Larkin Communications—A video production marketing based company. In his previous experience working in the communications field, Mr. Larkin’s expertise was in the marketing, branding and video production space.
In his role as Director of Communications & Development, Mr. Larkin is responsible for most of the District’s written publications. He also attends district events where he compiles photographs and does the write-ups of the events to be publicized. Mr. Larkin has also raised money for The Tiger Foundation, which provides grants to Marple Newtown educators that require additional resources for their classrooms as well as personally raising all of the funds for The Marple Newtown 100 Years Timeline located in the main hallway at the high school. His additional responsibilities include putting together the district’s content for the IN Community Magazine, press release submissions, marketing and promotion of the district and working with local and regional community businesses for advertising, sponsorships while managing advertising for the website, athletic stadium, athletic fields and gymnasium.
A 30 Year resident of Marple Newtown, Mr. Larkin is proud to say he was a Marple Junior Tiger, played baseball for Newtown Edgemont Little League and won a State Championship on the Broomall-Newtown Babe Ruth’s 1996 baseball team as well as a Catholic League Title on Archbishop Carroll’s 2000 Undefeated football team. Recently, Mr. Larkin was elected and served his community as a Marple Township Constable as well as being appointed and serving on the Marple Newtown Park & Recreation Board. In his spare time, Mr. Larkin volunteers helping the community’s football and baseball players. He is also a financial contributor to the Marple Newtown Ice Hockey Club, The Marple Newtown High School Cheerleading Organization, The Marple Newtown Band Parents Association as well as being an event supporter of Alex’s Lemonade Stand, which raises money for youth cancer.
